How to Take Your Takeout Meal to the Next Level

Once upon a time takeout felt like a special treat. Coming home, putting on your pajamas, and opening up a to-go box to still-hot food from your favorite restaurant was a small luxury after a long day.

Now, takeout is a necessity, and we’ll be the first to admit that those little white boxes are losing some of their magic. But a few simple touches can take your dinner delivery from drab to fab – seriously. Here’s how you can make takeout feel fancy.

  1. Eat on actual plates. While there’s nothing wrong with eating straight from the to-go box, using a real plate might help you see the food for the gourmet meal it is. And don’t forget the silverware!
  2. Presentation matters.  We eat with our eyes, too, which is why proper plating is always important. Use moist ingredients as your base, arrange foods according to flavor, and don’t overcrowd the plate. Topping your takeout meal with fresh spices, herbs or sauce can also breathe some freshness back into your meal.
  3. Amp up the ambiance. Missing the dim lighting and cocktail chatter of a real restaurant? Recreate a night-out at home by picking a playlist, putting down a tablecloth and lighting a candle or two.
  4. Take your time. We often associate takeout with fast food, even if it’s not. Taking the time to savor the flavors and appreciate the ingredients can make all the difference in your dining experience.

We’re still in the kitchen cooking up the Southern comfort classics you crave, like B’Town Gumbo, Fried Green Tomatoes, our Beet, Blue and Blackened Shrimp Gumbo, and more. We’re also serving family meals for four – like Shrimp and Grits and Fish Tacos – which come with a salad and your choice of bread or cornbread. Place your order for curbside pickup or deliver online or over the phone, and enjoy the finest Lowcountry flavors from the comfort of your own home.
