Top Three Reasons to Love Brunch

After a busy week, there’s nothing like unwinding over Sunday brunch. Picture it: you wake up when you want to, slip on your favorite sundress, and stroll the charming streets of Old Town Bluffton until it’s time to meet your friends at The Cottage. There’s nothing like celebrating the end of the week, or kicking off the week ahead, with a delicious meal that feeds the body and soul.

So, how did brunch come about anyway? Brunch was established in late 19th century England as a post-church meal, and because the timing was too late for breakfast but still too early for lunch, brunch was born. Because it accounted for two meals, the dishes were far more indulgent than usual. Brunch didn’t catch on in the United States until 30 years after its invention, but we’re so happy it did.

Here are three reasons why it’s our favorite meal of the week:

  1. The food. Whether you’re craving something light or hearty, sweet or savory, or both, there’s something on the menu for everyone. Want to start your morning off right? Order the Skinny Spinny scramble, Green Goddess benedict, or a Beets, Blue, and Blackened Shrimp salad for a healthier meal. If you’re craving a bigger meal, look no further than the Big Breakfast Burrito, the Hello Delmo burger, or our classic shrimp ‘n grits.
  2. Sleep now, eat later. Even if you like to sleep in on the weekend, you don’t need to worry about missing out on the most important meal of the day. So go ahead and hit that snooze button, because you deserve it.
  3. The company. Eating cereal on the couch doesn’t have the same effect as sharing food with friends. One of the best parts about brunch is being able to enjoy it with others. Some of our brunch plates are big enough to share (but are so good that you might not want to).

Every Sunday from 8:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m., the Cottage serves the best selection of items from our breakfast and lunch menus, plus a variety of delicious brunch specials. Treat yourself to a warm stack of French toast with golden syrup, an artisanal egg scramble, or a plate of our famous fried green tomatoes. Plan your next brunch with us and experience the best spread the Lowcountry has to offer.
